Janet Clarke Bears – Teddystyle Teddy Bear, History, Information

Janet Clarke makes teddy bears under the name Teddystyle and is based in Hemel, Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England. One of her best known bears is “Charlie” which was a limited edition of 10 to raise funds for Childline, a children’s charity.

Janet Clarke, Teddystyle bears typically are dressed with almost human bodies, shaved muzzle, with a unique nose design.

Marie Robischon Bears – Teddy Bear, History, Information

Marie Robischon is a former German display and exhibition designer that began making bears in 1993. Her creations often take up to two weeks to complete in order to find the right fabric and accessories at antique markets to make historically accurate teddy bears. Leonard Gotoking Bears – Teddy Bear, History, Information

Leonard Gotoking is a former Singaporean fashion designer that made Zoe as part of his James Alexander Signature line of haute couture bears. There was only three of these teddy bears made, the first one donated to Sasha’s & Company’s charity auction, which raised a record $3,000 for the Bone Marrow Association for Children.

Pam Howells was a teddy bear designer at Chiltern’s factory in Pontypool from 1957-1967 but has been making her own stuffed toys since 1972.

Changle Bears – Janet Changfoot Teddy Bear, History, Information

Changle Bears are made by Janet Changfoot from East London. She produces one of a kind teddy bears and limited editions like “Adam”. She was the winner of the 2000 British Bear Artists Award as well as an award in her own country. Changle teddy bears are made from either German or English mohair, fully jointed, with glass eyes. Each bear is air brushed giving them a unique look.

Sue Quinn Bears – Teddy Bear, History, Information

Sue Quinn has been making stuffed toys since the 1960′s and founded Dormouse Designs in 1978 in an old drapery shop in Renfrewshire, Scotland. In 1982, she started making teddy bears and limited editions in 1986. In 1987, she created Bramble Schooldays, inspired by her son. She continues to make exclusives, one of a kinds and limited edition bears.

Hana Franklin Bears – Teddy Bear, History, Information

Hana Franklin is a teddy bear artist out of Toronto, Canada. She started making bears at thirty years old after a friend bought her a chocolate brown bear named “Truffles” for her birthday knowing her love for chocolate truffles. Since then, she has been usually making one of a kind teddy bears made with imported mohair which is often dyed for an antique effect. Most are dressed either in clothes Hana has made herself or in antique garments. Two well known Hana Franklin bears are “Betty Buttons” made of pink mohair and “Benjamin”.
