Lexie Haworth Bears – Teddy Bear, History, Information

Lexie Haworth began producing bears in 1992 under the name, The Bears of Haworth Cottage, out of her home in Nowra, Australia. Her interest in making teddy bears began after she bought a 1905 Steiff at a local bric-a-brac auction. She bought a commercial pattern and some acrylic fur and after a few hours, made her first bear. After that, she started making her own teddy bear patterns and makes bears primarily using mohair. The bears are sewn by machine and finished by hand. Most Lexie Haworth bears are undressed, with a traditional style, trying to recreate the Steiff look.

We have a Bear of Haworth Cottage which we adopted during the Brisbane storms about 5 years ago.
He was on a pile of very wet jumble people had donated to the centre where we were, looking bedragled and rejected.
As we are Bear lovers and couldn’t bear to think what would become of him we asked could we take him home .
This fellow has a red plaid wollen scarf and is loved by all who meet him..

I have a bear with the original The Bears of Haworth Cottage tag on it. Is in brand new condition, has Lexie Haworth signature on the left paw. His name is Oscar. The tag states designed by Lexie but made in Thailand.

Can anyone tell me if this is a copy?

I have a lovely 36cm pinkish mauve bear with an original leather tag sewn on her back. She is made from Mohair and has a plucked muzzle, sewn nose and mouth and glass eyes.
Her pads are made from real suede and she is fully jointed.
I’m almost certain she is filled with some kind of beads.
She is made by Haworth Cottage and would like some more information on her.

I have a L Haworth bear named Lawson and Golly. There is a chest tag
with maker’s name but no manufactured date? I bought it in the year 1999,
so I assumed that is the manufactured year. Also how many did Ms Haworth
made for this bear design? Don’t know where to get these missing info for my bear?
Also where to check its current value?
