Marylou Jouet Bears – Teddy Bear, History, Information

Marylou Jouet is a bear artist from Rennes, Brittany, France. She is a member of the Paris Patchwork Association and has been teaching quilting since 1984.

Marylou Jouet’s first bear was a special Christmas bear named Patchnours or Patchnours Special Noel, made from 150 pieces of American fabric in 1989. This was followed up by one her more popular bears, Patchours Multicolour, made of over 250 pieces of material. These Patchwork bears have now become her specialty and have between 150 and 260 different cloth samples.

Since 1991, she has been making a line of miniatures and traditional mohair plush bears. Many of them have handmade accessories such as lace collars and silk ties. These teddy bears are stuffed with wood wool and are fully jointed with the eyes made of glass. Each bear comes with it’s own adoption certificate with details on the edition of the bear and when it was made.
